Northwest snow lovers get safety upgrade
Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center (NWAC) receives a new website and weather reporting system from Web Collective.
With a small team of very dedicated weather forecasters, NWAC works hard to publish daily updates on snow conditions throughout the winter season. Their website is an indispensable tool for people in Washington and Oregon who venture into the snow covered mountains in winter. We worked closely with NWAC to design and build a new website and weather reporting system that helps the forecasters do their job. Django provided the framework in which we were able to build a complex forecasting system within a limited budget.
Some recent feedback from people using the new site:
"High kudos for the complete redesign........more information is now available to (both) the less experienced and (also the) snow science educated user. Hopefully this will ultimately result in far fewer accidents and of course fatalities for backcountry winter aficionados."
"The new site is great! I am a novice backcountry skier, so I use the NWAC site every day. It's always been very helpful and informative, but the new site is even more so with the improved graphics and maps; very easy to use and well constructed."
About NWAC
NWAC promotes safety by helping reduce the impacts of avalanches and adverse mountain weather on recreation, industry and transportation in Washington, and northern Oregon through data collection, mountain weather and avalanche forecasting and education.
