Who We Are

Values-based - Mission-driven - Employee-owned

Web Collective serves sustainability-driven businesses and organizations with professional Internet expertise.  We build highly interactive websites with open source software to help you achieve your goals.  We are fortunate to work with businesses, nonprofits and government agencies leading the way to positive futures.

Our clients are passionate about sustainability.  So are we. Our choice to organize ourselves as an employee-owned cooperative reflects our belief that sustainability must be deeply integrated with democratic values and social justice in addition to environmental awareness. Expressing these values in a cooperative workplace becomes an important way that we walk our talk and lead by example.

History

Web Collective began as a collaboration of Web professionals in 2005 who met while volunteering for BALLE Seattle.  We incorporated as a employee-owned cooperative in Washington State in May 2007.  Read more about the owners in the bios section.

Business Values

The owners of Web Collective commonly hold these values and strive to incorporate them into everything we do.

Sustainability Commitment

We founded Web Collective on the belief that for us to live into a more just and sustainable future we have to start with ourselves. To that end, our business values people, the planet as well as profit.

  • We value people through cooperative ownership among all employees and democratic decision making through formal consensus and a focus upon highly collaborative client process.
  • We value the environment by being mindful of minimizing our impact in every decision, whether it be setting the office thermostat or deciding whether to work on a project that requires us to fly.
  • Our values around social and environmental sustainability are encoded into every aspect of our company, including our bylaws.
